The City of Dunwoody invites residents to participate in the 10th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on Monday, January 19, 2026. In partnership with Dunwoody Parks and Recreation, the Dunwoody–Atlanta Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., and local organizations, volunteers can take part in tree planting, park beautification, community garden projects, and a blood drive. Residents are encouraged to register in advance, with full details and sign-ups available through the City of Dunwoody’s official MLK Day of Service page.
How to Volunteer on MLK Day in Dunwoody
10th Annual MLK Day of Service in Dunwoody
Date: Monday, January 19, 2026
Location: Multiple locations throughout Dunwoody, Georgia
Volunteers will come together to support environmental stewardship, community beautification, and lifesaving efforts. Residents are encouraged to register in advance and select a project that aligns with their interests and availability.
MLK Day of Service Volunteer Opportunities
Tree Planting at Dunwoody Nature Center
Time: Begins at 10:00 AM
Location: Dunwoody Nature Center
Partnering with Trees Atlanta, volunteers will help plant 86 new trees to support native habitats and preserve Dunwoody’s natural environment. All tools and supplies are provided. No experience is required.
Daffodil Planting at Brook Run Park
Time: Begins at 9:00 AM
Location: Brook Run Park
Join fellow volunteers to plant 5,000 daffodil bulbs as part of the Daffodil Project. This family-friendly activity creates a lasting symbol of hope, remembrance, and community pride.
Community Garden and Orchard Cleanup
Time: Begins at 9:00 AM
Location: Dunwoody Community Garden and Orchard
Help prepare the community garden and orchard for the upcoming growing season. Volunteers will assist with raking, general maintenance, and rebuilding raised garden beds. Gloves and sturdy shoes are recommended.
MLK Day Blood Drive with the American Red Cross
Time: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Location: North Atlanta Church of Christ, 5676 Roberts Drive, Dunwoody, GA
Support lifesaving efforts by donating blood with the American Red Cross. Pre-registration is recommended, though walk-ins may be accommodated as space allows.
Dunwoody Nature Center MLK Day of Service Volunteer Event
This MLK Day volunteer event is a collaboration between Trees Atlanta and the Dunwoody Nature Center, offering flexible opportunities to serve throughout the day.
Date: January 19, 2026
Volunteer Shifts:
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Cost: Free
Volunteers will assist with trail maintenance, habitat restoration, and general grounds upkeep. Participants should wear weather-appropriate clothing, closed-toe shoes, and bring a reusable water bottle.
